Transfer to Lima airport and flight to Arequipa, the white city. Free day and lunch for a personal discovery. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Optional: Walking tour of Arequipa with your guide, visit the church of the company of Jesus and the cupola of the chapel of St. Ignacio, then visit the convent of Santa Catalina and have lunch in the historic center.
Road towards Puno. Crossing the Aguada Blanca Reserve known for its volcanoes with snow-capped peaks. Lunch packed lunch along the way. The landscapes are varied, Lake Lagunillas is the resting place for migratory birds such as black ibises and the many flamingos. Arrive in Puno, in the heart of the Altiplano, on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the highest perched in the world. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Transfer to the port of Puno and boarding the boat. Lake Titicaca covers about 8,562 km² of which 4,772 km² correspond to the Peruvian territory and the rest to Bolivia. Navigation to the Uros Islands, located 5 km from Puno. Locals, especially women dressed in colorful dresses, will welcome you to present their traditional way of life. Then, sailing to Taquile Island, located 35 km from Puno, where nearly 2000 people live. Slow climb on foot by a path to discover the blue panorama of the lake and the sky. Free lunch to be paid directly to the community. Return to your boat by going down some 504 steps. Navigation for Capachica and the Llachon community, where you will have the opportunity to share the life of this community for an evening and a night. Dinner in the community and overnight at homestay. The rooms are simple and clean, blankets are provided; electricity is random; the toilet often outside. Bathrooms with hot water provided by solar energy.
Departure towards Cuzco. Stop at La Raya, located 4300 meters above sea level, representing the boundary between the Altiplano and the Andean zone. It is also the old railway station with its water tanks of the nineteenth century that supplied the boilers steam locomotives. Lunch along the way. Arrival in the Sacred Valley. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Optional: Visit the archaeological site of Raqchi, remains of the temple of Wiracocha.
